I literally have a story about a man who started a community newspaper scheduled for Sunday. There are pockets of good journalism around, and still in print, but you're right about the local papers. Mine closed to freelancers 10 years ago, even though we were cheap as chips. And my parents cancelled their paper because our town was never in it! My column, which got scrapped, was the last bit!
