I hear you on the empathy thing. I feel the same, in terms of considering how people feel in different situations that don't affect me. It's why I chose to spend £400 on fixing a problem at our house for sale, because I didn't want the buyer to have to deal with it - I imagined how they would feel to move into their new home and a few days or weeks later, discover THIS. I couldn't do it. Then they pulled out anyway, but hopefully we'll get another.

But the thing is, I think we probably all have a limit. I find the level of immigration to the UK uncomfortable because it does impact the rest of us, and while I do feel sorry for the real refugees, many are hopping over the channel just looking for a 'better life' - a stronger economy and money. And the explosion of the population here is a problem, with our countryside disappearing under new housing, and services not working under the pressure. It's the numbers, not the individuals. So, I suppose that's where my empathy starts to wane. And wanting my home country to be nice kicks in.

Also, I frankly, care more about the environment and the wildlife which is on its knees. More people only adds to the pressure and destruction of habitats. If we keep going, there will be nothing left.

Maybe, they should ban babies until everything is better. 😂
