I got a new respect for the word holistic recently after a doctor's appointment when I'd been referred for respiratory problems. The guy was an expert on the voice box and took a look at that. But there was a different guy for the windpipe - the bit that's actually sore. Voice box doctor thought it was acid reflux, but he's not a specialist in that because that would be the gastroenterologist, so basically, I'm none the wiser. I don't think it's acid. The drugs don't work. Now, if medicine was more holistic, I'd get to speak to someone who could look more fully at how digestion might be affecting respiratory system, and do an actual test for reflux. I've given up and am hoping it goes away.
