I don't want my work sold for 10 cents, but then I don't want it used without permission either. I think the problem with allowing the whole world access to the MPP is that it may encourage people to join who don't write good English. It would therefore go directly against the goal of creating great content. I guess they could trial it. I do agree with membership being taken out of earnings - it makes a lot of sense.
