I don't know. I looked back at your article, where it said, "In Canada, immigration law allows for the deportation of permanent residents who are convicted of crimes carrying more than a 6-month prison term" so on that basis, a European Immigrant may also be facing deportation in the same circumstances. It's an awful situation. My instinct is that if someone is placed in charge of a vehicle, especially a very large one, they must pay attention to the road, and if they don't, they take the consequences. He's clearly remorseful, and I don't know any of the details to see whether he was driving more dangerously than other drivers on that intersection who have also been involved in accidents. I suspect he killed more people. I'm no judge. I just think it's a shame. I ride a motorbike. If I don't pay attention, I die. This focuses the mind. Perhaps we all need to have that kind of focus when we're driving.
