I asked for counselling on the NHS once. I got a call from someone who asked me for a load of information and detail, and kept saying, 'are you suicidal yet?' She got me to talk about stuff to see if it made me suicidal. It didn't, so I wasn't eligible. But the experience took me a couple of weeks to feel right again. It was so upsetting. I think that might have been like a therapy hangover - but then again, I didn't really get the therapy, because she wasn't sympathetic, or really listening - just wanted to know whether she could drive me to feel suicidal by pressing the right buttons. I hope a therapy hangover would leaving like you still got some benefit from the therapy.
