I actually looked it up because I'd previously published a piece about intelligence falling, and someone asked about screen time. It wasn't included in that study, so I took a look and found these fascinating studies. I wasn't being judgemental, but I was curious.
Sorry to hear you don't have a lot of connections outside of the internet. Funnily enough, it's made me think about my own life because I'm much the same, and since covid, I've deliberately chosen to do more online.
I think the problems arise when there are people around but they're being ignored. And someone specifically felt there was a problem when children are being ignored because their parents are stuck on their phones the whole time.
I thought the studies were interesting. I try to limit my screen time by simply not having a smartphone. But it is a little concerning that too much screen time may be causing developmental delays in children.
