I have a similar success ratio with that publication and there is little difference between the ones that were accepted and the ones that were declined. I still prefer to put in the extra effort, if he wants to nominate something but thinks it needs work. But I'm not convinced that the work makes any difference to whether they are accepted for boost.

I had one boosted which he just published, and someone else boosted it two days later.
