The Ukrainians were expecting any day the beaches to be swarmed by Russian soldiers, filled with blood lust, as well as an invasion from land as they pushed on towards Odesa from the Eastern side.

Gosh, it's so awful. I see things on the news, and am aware he could easily come for us. It's a nightmare for those trapped there.
