Families can be a lot like that. I tried to speak to my parents about issues when it was at that 'now or never' stage. They eventually shut me down with, ' I'm not interested and I don't care'. I just have to remind myself of that, every time I want to talk about it and find a resolution, that they're not interested and don't care. My dad has since died anyway. So sorry for your experiences.
