Different countries, different rules. In the UK, we do have free healthcare and education. In fact, we paid them to go to college until quite recently. Not university, admittedly. Used to, but that was highly controversial too. Now they just give out government loans, of which 70% are never repaid, so 70% still get it free.

When I was young I was exploited, but that is illegal now. Now employers have to pay young people a decent wage for the work they do, by law.

And then there's moral support, which is much more than money... and wouldn't have gone a miss when I was young either. I think society is better these days. In the UK anyway.... a lot more supportive attitudes around.
