Clashing wasn't good for me because I had no means to escape when I needed to move out. Couldn't get a job at the start of the 1990 recession, and couldn't earn enough on a training scheme for a place to live. Dad made my life hell. But he did mellow once he retired, so it improved eventually, and in time, I was able to move away. I wish there had been less conflict, but I still don't feel it was my fault. I needed friends and he didn't like them. Being lonely and isolated is no life.
