…blame the fossil fuel companies alone for our predicament: there is a partly shared responsibility. They only extract fossil fuels because we create the demand, and therefore generate profits for them. Their directors don’t greet the day with joy, jump out of bed and proceed to extract oil for the sake of it. They do it because we ask them to. Not just at the petrol pumps, or the airline queue, but in the food we choose, the products we buy, and where we buy them from.

Brilliantly said. I've been saying the same thing and people just argue and argue.
Well, not everyone, but some people do.
Nonetheless, I totally agree that change needs to come from all directions. If consumers refuse to fund environmental destruction (or to limit their consumption), businesses will be forced to provide alternatives.
