The New Medium Interface is Both Fabulous and Terrible!

Assuming I’m not the only person who’s had a new interface forced upon them today, I imagine you’re all seeing the changes and trying to decide whether they’re good or bad.

Well, the good news for me is that messages open more quickly and I can respond more quickly. That’s a big improvement upon waiting for the page to load, which was frankly, irritating, and meant checking my messages took far too long.

But the big downer is that every time I open Medium, I am now presented with the ‘Recommended’ feed, which is full of shit about Medium.

Excuse the irony, as I write about Medium, but I used to have it set to ‘Following’ and it stayed that way. I preferred that feed. This is going to reduce visibility of those we’re following, in favour of ‘Recommendations’.

That’s annoying.
